The Baywatch Hawaii Red and Yellow Lifeguard Shorts an article of clothing worn by the male lifeguards of Baywatch Hawaii when they are on beach duty or doing other particular tasks.
These particular short were used during the two seasons of Baywatch based in Hawaii (known as Seasons 10 and 11 of the original series and Seasons 1 and 2 of the Hawaiian-themed series itself).
The creation of the shorts[]
The shorts were manufactured by another swimsuit company called XCEL and had a slightly different design compared to the original red shorts. They were the traditional red lifeguard colour (unlike the yellow swimsuit designed by TYR worn by the female lifeguards) except with a yellow trim and stitching, ties and a fly zip at the front, the black and white XCEL logo and a Baywatch Hawaii Lifeguard patch. The shorts were also made more thicker as the producers wanted to use them to work in the surf.
The shorts were used to denote being a member of the elite Baywatch Hawaiian lifeguard training centre team, while the North Shore lifeguards presumably remained in the traditional red shorts.
They was first seen in the first episode of Season 10, being given to new recruits as both Mitch Buchannon and Sean Monroe were recruiting members to join their new Baywatch Hawaii Lifeguard team.
