John D. Cort is a character in Baywatch.
Physical Appearance[]
Cort has an athletic build with shoulder length brown hair (later shortened) and blue eyes.
Personality[]
Loveable renegade, former US navy seal who does not play by the rules. He is a bad boy at first, but as the series progressed he was also very caring and charismatic. Most often though his actions got himself and some of his friends with him in a great deal of trouble.

When he returns to the series in Season 4, he is over his relationship with C.J., now accepting each other as friends. He seems to be more focused on professionalism, wishing to resume his lifeguard career. All seems well by passing a cursory medical inspection, however Mitch suspects something is awry when John bumbles on a simple rescue, bumping into people who are directly in his way. Mitch then takes John to an eye specialist, who diagnoses that John has a rare eye disease that is causing tunnel vision, and will eventually cause him to go completely blind. Faced with the truth, John Cort accepts that his lifeguard career is over.
Season 5[]
Cort returns in an episode of Season 5, saying he has been taking steps to deal with his eye problems and possibly retard or impede his forthcoming blindness. His friends are happy to see he is taking his health seriously, although he has been up to his old ways of "make the rules so I can break them". Earlier, he had been on the run from bandits in the desert and stashed the loot behind a cairn. He then encourages one of the lifeguards to join him in a dune buggy race, whose track is on the same desert he fled the robbers. Cort stops, claiming engine trouble, then quickly "fixes" the malfunction (in actuality recapturing the loot). However, when Cort puts himself and his friend in danger from the bandits, he makes amends by donating the loot to a monastery.
