Manuelo "Manny" Gutierrez is a character in Baywatch.

Manny is a passionate enthusiastic young man. He aspires to be a life guard, often jumping at any opportunity to learn the craft. Always positive often offers moral support for Hobie.

Season 7[]

Manny lived with his mother in a guest house and made his debut, learning the craft of becoming a LA County Lifeguard participating in everything possible. He becomes Cody's Iron Man Handler in the episode Let The Games Begin.

Hobie once mistook him for being a victim, when he first arrived to join junior lifeguard but it turns out he is experienced.

Manny was once in a gang but escape. He had never got along with few other teenagers, other than Hobie, J.B. and Connor, except the gang he was in harassed Manny, but he has saved a few of his friends, like when Manny was a teenager in high school, his two friends, who were boyfriend and girlfriend, tried to kill themselves after their parents were against dating each other. But eventually, Manny and their parents coped with it.

Season 8[]

Manny is finally old enough to attempt Rookie School, but runs into a complication with his vision which disallows him to qualify as a life guard. After Mitch allows Manny to compete, he ends up winning.

Manny once nearly died, after being electrocuted by an electric eel during the Santa Ana wind, but recovers, while looking for April and Hobie, and afterwards learned his lesson.

Manny dates April most of Season 8, until they separate and she goes onto date Craig.

Season 9[]

Manny returns after finals are over, still obsessed about April, who is dating Craig. Later, Manny competes in a Sea-Doo race with Hobie, Newman, and J.D. In the same episode, Manny breaks his back during a rescue after hitting the pier pilings, and his doctor told him he'll be disabled the rest of his life. And the next episode he returns to clean out his locker, quitting Baywatch to be on disabilities, but Mitch and Alex convince him to stay, until he had trouble with the switchboard, which makes him upset, until he has new idea, to use new equipment. Also, he wished that he had completed the rescue without getting disabled. Manny was happy to stay with the team.

  • Manny is the third Baywatch lifeguard to get disabled after a rescue. First Eric Turner and second Mitch Buchannan.
